Resident Advisory Board Meeting

A meeting with the Resident Advisory Board will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 5:00 pm at the David H. Drayton Community Center located at 1 Lincoln St, Georgetown, SC. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the needs of the residents of Georgetown Housing Authority and the use of CFP 2023 funds being made available from HUD. All residents are encouraged to attend.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A public hearing  will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the David H. Drayton Community Center located at 1 Lincoln St, Georgetown, SC. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss all aspects of the 2023 5-Year Action Plan/Annual Plan for Georgetown Housing Authority.   • July 19, 2023 – Our regular scheduled August Board Meeting is rescheduled for Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 6:00 PM
  • November 2, 2021 – The Public Housing Program is opening the waiting list effective, Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Applications will be taken at the front office on Tuesdays at 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This list will remain open until further notice.
  • November 3, 2020 – The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) is opening the waiting list effective, Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Applications will be taken at the front office on Tuesdays at 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This list will remain open until further notice.
  • June 11, 2020 – Applications for public housing will be CLOSED for further notice due to the high volume of applications already received.

Public Housing

Public housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single family houses to highrise apartments for elderly families.

Housing Choice Voucher

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, formerly known as Section 8, is rental assistance in the private market.

This program is governed by a waiting list and preference. Applicants must apply and qualify to receive services.
